On Wednesday, February 10th a few of our staff members were walking in the village and happened to witness a motorcycle accident just feet away from them. A young man from Neply, named Jackson, was thrown off the back of a motorcycle at high speeds, landed on his head and was knocked unconscious.
Jackson lay completely unconscious and bleeding after the accident. Missy Wilson, Co-Founder of myLIFEspeaks and one of the witnesses, recalls she thought Jackson was dead at first because he wasn’t moving and was bleeding. Immediately, myLIFEspeaks staff present and several members of our commUNITY came together to help get Jackson onto a wood plank stretcher and carry him to the clinic where one of our nurses was able to wrap his head and get vitals.
Meanwhile, our Public Health Liaison, Rhonda, was able to contact HERO rescue ambulatory services and arrange for us to meet to get Jackson to the hospital. By this time he was in and out of consciousness. He knew his name but nothing else and was very disoriented, scared, and confused.
By God’s Provision we were able to get Jackson transported on a mattress in the back of a pickup truck (closest thing we had to an ambulance) and meet HERO emergency responders in Port-Au-Prince in an hour (not typical). There were many moments of God’s intervention that allowed the right people to be at the right place at the right time to help Jackson.
Once we met HERO in Port-Au-Prince, Jackson was safely transported, with his mom and cousin, to the hospital that specializes in head trauma. We sent out an email to our prayer partners and message on social media asking for prayers for Jackson. We had people from all over covering him in prayer. His family isn’t believers so we were hoping God would use this awful situation to make His healing presence and peace known so that they may come to believe in Jesus.
You all covered Jackson and this situation in prayer. Then a miracle happened.
The very next day we got word that Jackson was ready to be discharged from the hospital. What?! He had been assessed and they didn’t find any major head trauma or injury.
He flew off the back of a high speed motorcycle and landed on his head being immediately knocked unconscious and bleeding - and he has NO major injury other than a bad headache and road rash?! How is this possible!?
Sure enough, Jackson was able to come home and despite a little lingering pain is sleeping pretty well and recovering.
We were able to visit with Jackson and his mom earlier this week, a week after the accident, and share with him how Jesus saved his LIFE that night because He has big plans for his future. Jackson’s mom was so thankful for everything we did to help him and she believes that God saved her son.
Another miracle, another LIFE saved, another encounter with God here in Neply. Please continue to pray that God will use this to change his LIFE forever! Thank you for praying with us!
