Today after eight months of living and serving alongside myLIFEspeaks in Haiti as a family, the Rainwaters returned home to Indiana.
Seth, Jamie, and Lochard have been volunteering and supporting myLIFEspeaks since the very beginning and have come on countless trips. Last year, they felt a special call on their hearts to move to Haiti for several months, live in Neply, and give themselves in service to continue God’s Work through myLIFEspeaks.
They have done more in eight months than we could have ever fathomed. Their lives not only speak but continue to leave a profound impact on every person they meet.
Seth quickly became known as “Mr. Fix Anything”, resurrecting and/or installing everything from electricity, to WIFI, to basketball goals, hand washing stations, faucets, and computers. This man can do it all and he makes Bob the Builder look like a rookie.
The most incredible and humbling part? He does all of it (sometimes well into the night) in selfless service, with a smile, and never ever complaining.
Jamie is a radiant light in the village, always greeting every person with a genuine smile, hug (pre-covid), authenticity, and heartfelt compassion. When she wasn’t establishing or creating hands-on lessons for our new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) program at LIFE Academy, she could be seen praying over people in the village, having heart to heart conversations, and showing Christ’s Love to every person she passes. Jamie is a loyal friend, passionate teacher, and devoted wife and mother with a heart rooted in Jesus.
Lochard is a vibrant ball of energy, joy, jokes, passion, and loyal friendship. He quickly made friends with children in the village and has a gift of meeting and loving every person exactly as they are, where they are. Born in Haiti himself and adopted by the Rainwaters, he has a special place for Haiti in his heart and loves coming back to serve.
We will greatly miss these 3 vibrant members of our commUNITY in Neply and our myLIFEspeaks family. There is a Seth, Jamie, and Lochard shaped hole in our village and our hearts.
We are so grateful for their obedience in living by the Spirit and loving others with everything in them. We speak on behalf of our entire Haitian and American staff and village when we say we can’t wait for you to come back and visit hopefully very soon!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for sharing your lives, your love, and your servant hearts with us. We love you!
